Picnic at the castle

The local landed gentry invited us serfs up for Liz's Jubilee with a "bring your own picnic and we wont charge you to sit on our land" type celebration. This is what we took.

Potato salad (with celery, radishes, spring onions, parsley, chives and fennel fronds), Orzo salad (with cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, mint and lemon), hummus and, wrapped in the greaseproof paper, sausage rolls. All homemade except for the pastry round the sausage rolls. I have no good picture of them but they were adapted from a very old Cranks recipe. They are ridiculously, sublimely delicious.

  1. Orzo is our latest thing…you know, well eat it constantly for a month or so then forget about it. Its also very good in a pasta bake.
